Chicken Roast...

I made this one with some spices to make it more desi-fied and spicy.

Ingredients:
* Whole chicken 1 medium
* Yoghurt 1/2 cup
* Red chilli powder 1 tsp
* Dhaniya powder 1 tsp
* Chaat masala 1/2 tsp
* Lemon juice 2 tbsp
* Diced vegetables 200 gms
* Ginger-garlic paste 1 tsp

Procedure:
Mix half of the vegetables, yoghurt and spices together to make a marinade. Stuff the vegetables into the chicken and apply the marinade all over the chicken.
Keep it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
Pre-heat oven, put the chicken in the baking tray, spread the vegetables around it, fill the tray with half a cup of water.
Cook for 1 hour and 30 minutes on 215 degrees.
Brush it with oil in between.

  7. Hi, Do u boil the veggie before stuffing the chicken or just dice them and stuff it and it wil cook inside? another thing is...it looks like u hav tied the chicken..how do u do that and using what??

    Thanks..it sounds good for a Thanksgiving dinner in place of Turkey....

  8. hi Y

    No i stuffed the veggies raw. It cooks while inside the chicken. It was tied when I bought it so I have no idea how to tie it at home.

  9. Was the chicken all tender and cooked within the 1 hour and 30 minutes on 215 degrees?? Wats this thing that people say abt leaving the chicken in the oven for 5 hours and it releases some toxins...hav u herd abt that??

    Thankx...im gona try this so was just asking b4 i doo....

  10. O Sorry, it doesnt release toxins by leaving it in the oven for 5 hours...but it does wen the chicken doesnt reach an internal temperature of 140 degrees within 2 hours, of it being in the oven......

    Also remembered one more thing...do u hav to pierce or make any cuts in the chicken b4 cooking it so that the masala can be absorbed into the chicken and that it could also cook well..??

    thankx...

  11. hi Y

    I think an hour and half is more than enough. You can buy these special thermometers which you can insert into the chicken and note the temperature.

    Yes pierce them with a fork and then massage the marinate onto the chicken for 5-6 minutes. You can put your chicken and the marinate in a plastic bag and then massage it to avoid the mess.
