Curd Rice...

I love this dish. It is a very simple and delicious dish I use to eat this a lot while in Bangalore.

Ingredients:
* Cooked rice a bowl full
* Yoghurt 1 cup
* Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
* Whole red chillies 2-3
* Curry leaves 10-12

Procedure:
Mix yoghurt and rice in a bowl, add couple of spoons of milk if needed.
Heat a tbsp of oil and splutter mustard, curry leaves and red chillies.
Add the tarka to the rice and yoghurt mix.
Add salt as per taste.

I have tagged you to a meme.."Ten things you miss of Mom's cooking"-you are supposed to list 10 things you miss of your mom's cooking and post it. And at the end, you can tag another blogger/bloggers who haven't played this game yet...hope you would be interested and keep the thread growing!!If you need any info you may pl contact...

Daagh,
Just wanted to let you know that I am adding you to the links on my blog. Hope it is ok with you.

Conratulations on a very attractive website and great photos! You have mentioned "green masala" as an ingredient in several of your recipes. Can you please tell me what this is and how to make it? Or if it a ready-made product, what brand is it and where to buy it? Thank you!

Hi..addition to the recipe of curd-rice...green grapes/grated carrot/grated cucumber can be added in the end to add a variation in the flavour. You may also add a dollop of white butter. The rice would be better a tad overcooked..softer than the fluffy rice we get in pulavs/biryanis etc. and mash in the curd. This gives it a very creamy texture.
And yes, if you like,you can also add a pinch of dhuli urad dal alongwith the mustard seeds at the time of adding the tarka

I thought Curd rice had anar dana in it too. All the time I tasted curd rice, it had anar dana in it and I tasted it in bangalore too (Department meets at the uni)

thanks all for your comments...

yes you can add fried urid daal, grapes, anardaana etc since it is such a simple dish, anything go with it...

Mom2D, I remember eating anaar ke daane in curd rice but I didnt have them with me when I made this dish.
